Proposed North Island Community Forest Forest Stewardship Plan Amendment – Multi-Licensee

The North Island Community Forest LP is proposing an amendment to their Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP) that is now available for review and comment.  The FSP covers public land areas on Northern Vancouver Island, including areas along Nahwitti River, Shushartie and Tsulquate valleys and near Quatse Lake, Alice Lake and Marble River, all falling within the North Island – Central Coast Natural Resource District.

The purpose of this FSP amendment is to include new Forest Development Units, adding Forest Licence A19243 and to update results and strategies describing how the licensees will manage the resources legislated under the Forest and Range Practices Act and associated Regulations.  Additionally, Stocking Standards are being updated to reflect current collaborations and planning with First Nations to incorporate Indigenous Values and Resources.

The FSP is now available for review and comment. We wish to invite all members of the public, First Nations, Guide Outfitters and Trappers and all other stakeholders or interested parties to review the FSP amendment and discuss any particular results and/or strategies in more detail and to provide comments. Please provide comments prior to August 27, 2024, when the review and comment period will expire in order to have them considered and addressed.

If you wish to make an appointment to view the FSP in person, please contact Meg Bose, NICF Manager at manager@nicf.ca

Please email all comments and questions prior to August 27, 2024 to the attention of:
